Girls lose in Cup final to take second

The Magic 95's quest to win the State Challenge Cup fell one game short as they lost a hard fought 3-1 game to the Vincent United Aztecs.

The final represented a showdown between two PAGS Premier Division teams. The game was as close as everyone knew it would be as both time of possession and shots on goal were about even. Unfortunately, the Magic fell short and had to settle for second place.

The 2009 State Challenge Cup run was a great testament to the hard work the girls have put in as they went from a Division 2 LVYSL team to the Challenge Cup runners-up in just over two years. Although there was a lot of disappointment following the game, the girls can take solace in realizing that they accomplished a feat that can never be taken away from them- an appearance in the Challenge Cup finals. Great job ladies!

The Magic 95 completed a great weekend by taking first place in the 2009 Spring Quakertown Invitaional Tournament.

After driving to Harrisburg and back on Saturday morning for a State Cup quarterfinal game, the girls began their quest for the tournament gold.  After going 2-0-1 in bracket play, the girls advanced to the finals and defeated the Deep Run Lazers 4-1 to claim first place.

Counting the state cup game, the girls played five games over the weekend, winning four of them and tying the other, while outscoring their opponents 16-3. All in all, a very productive and exhausting weekend in 90 degree heat.

Tryout for the Magic 95 Girls

The Magic 95s have an open door policy for tryouts.

Any player within the birthdates of 8/1/95 thru 7/31/96 is welcomed to have a trial with us at anytime during the year. A simple email to the coach or manager is all that it takes to be invited to join us for a training session or two.

Generally, players interested in joining the Magic 95 team are invited to attend several practices and perhaps play with the team at a local tournament. This enables the potential player and parents to learn about the LV Magic philosophy, while allowing the coaching staff to evaluate skills and abilities.

If you are a talented and devoted soccer player and would like the opportunity to be trained by Brian Gill, a coach on the NCAA Division 1 Lafayette College staff, contact us for your chance to join the area's premier soccer team.
